ZFF Mobile Movie Award: The 24-Second Film Festival
A good story can be told in a sentence; and an enthralling film needs no more than 24 seconds to capture and amuse an audience. The Zurich Film Festival and Nokia invite ambitious mobile-phone filmmakers to demonstrate this fact: by producing a 24-second mobile-phone film with the theme “every second counts”. The three most compelling entries will win a Nokia N93. The producer of the overall winning film will travel together with a companion, to the Tribeca Film Festival in New York.
This year’s ZFF Mobile Movie Award will be implemented once again by the Zurich Film Festival together with its main sponsor, Nokia. The competition will award the boldest, most original and nicest 24 seconds within the framework of the official Festival Award Ceremony at the Kaufleutensaal on Saturday, October 7.
Decisive seconds
“Every second counts” - is not only valid for the length of these short films, but also for their content. The film should show something where every second is decisive. Whether fiction, animation or documentary, romantic or horror, the limits for experimentation are none - the only requirement is: the film must be produced using a mobile phone. Fantasy, originality and an eye for the quintessential are the qualities sought after here; 24 seconds is over quicker than most mobile-phone filmmakers would wish! The closing date for entries is Friday, September 22.
The public chooses the winner
The three best entries will receive a Nokia N93 and will be available to watch on the festival’s homepage from Monday, September 25 onwards. The public will choose the overall winner from these three entries via an Internet-voting system. In addition to the mobile phone, the highest rated film will also win a trip for two people to the Tribeca Film Festival in New York worth CHF 7 500. Voting is worth it! Voters will have the chance to win one of three Nokia N93 mobile phones.
