A Glamorous Start to the 3 Zurich Film Festival
The red carpet will be rolled out before the cinema Corso on Thursday, September 27, 2007: The 3rd Zurich Film Festival will be ceremoniously opened in the presence of many prominent guests from home and abroad.

We are extremely pleased to have secured six renowned personalities from the international film scene for this year’s jury.The jury will be presided over by Albert S. Ruddy, one of the world’s best-known producers (1972, Oscar for The Godfather; 2004 second Oscar for Million Dollar Baby). His cult classic The Longest Yard acheived the highest box-office results at the time of its release.Further jury members are Moritz Bleibtreu (Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door, Lola rennt, Vom Suchen und Finden der Liebe, Agnes und seine Brüder); Bettina Oberli (Im Nordwind, Die Herbstzeitlosen); Justus von Dohnányi (Das Experiment, Der Untergang); Dieter Meier (Yello, Soundtracks for various films); Matthew Modine (Birdy, Full Metal Jacket, Any Given Sunday and Shortcuts).
The jury members will award the “Golden Eye” in three competition categories (Debut Feature Film, New Fiction Film and New Documentary Film).
Zurich Film Festival presents: onedotzero, the world’s biggest digital film festival
For three days, the Theater am Neumarkt will be the Mecca of animated film. With the onedotzero series, the Zurich Film Festival brings the most important and most innovative festival in the field of digital film to Zurich, presents new works as European premieres and supports local production with the series onedotzero_ch. This year with even more attractive prizes: The winner of the onedotzero_ch_award will also receive a video commission for the two local editions of the Red Bull Music Academy 2008 in western Switzerland and Zurich. Even in its days as a small independent film festival, the makers of onedotzero presented first works by Spike Jones, Michel Gondry and Chris Cunningham long before they became popular with a wider audience. onedotzero has also designed the stage shows for such big names as U2, George Michael and the Rolling Stones. From September 28 – 30, 2007 the Swiss pioneers of digital film will meet at the Theater am Neumarkt. onedotzero_ch facilitates exchange and offers young talent a platform to show their work to a broader audience. The young artists will present their newest ideas, their most inspiring clips and most creative video art, lead their viewers through the spheres of animated worlds, play with our perception of reality and experiment with image languages and narrative techniques. onedotzero_ch serves as a platform for exchange and as a steppingstone in the artist’s strive to reach an international audience.

The Zurich Film Festival cordially invites you to its press conference on Thursday, September 13, 2007, at the Zunfthaus zur Saffran. The festival administration will present the competition programme, announce the names of this year’s jury members and give details of the numerous periphery events surrounding the 3rd Zurich Film Festival. The press conference will be attended by Nadja Schildknecht, Karl Spoerri, Antoine Monot jr., Nikolaj Nikitin, Shane Walter and Christine Dorn.
