And the winners are...: The 3rd Zurich Film Festival’s Closing Night

The prize winners of the 3rd Zurich Film Festival have been determined. The jury of the 3rd Zurich Film Festival awarded the “Golden Eye” to the three winners of the competition series at the glamorous Closing Night on October 6, 2007 at the Kaufleuten. Winner of the category Debut Feature Film is Jarrett Schaefer with “Chapter 27”. “The Band’s Visit (Bikur Hatizmoret)” by Eran Kolirin won the category New Fiction Film. Dan Cox won over

the jury with his first doc “Running with Arnold” and took the Golden Eye in the category New Documentary Film. “A Tribute To...” guest Oliver Stone received a Golden Eye for his life’s work to rapturous applause. The Variety’s New Talent Award was presented for the first time at this year’s Zurich Film Festival. This was also awarded to Eran Kolirin for “The Band’s Visit (Bikur Hatizmoret)”. The Audience Prize went to the film “Twelve In A Box” by John McKenzie (Great Britain, 2006).

Prize winners, jury members, organisers and many guests from home and abroad celebrated the end of the 3rd Zurich Film Festival at the Afterparty. The newcomer star from England Jamie Scott and his band Jamie Scott & The Town delighted the flock of guests with a sentimental pop music sound.

Awarding the Golden Eyes

The 3rd Zurich Film Festival will celebrate its Closing Night this coming Saturday at the Kaufleuten-Saal in Zurich. Prominent guests from home and abroad will walk the red carpet to attend the announcing and presentation of the three Golden Eyes to the three winners of the competition categories (Debut Feature Film, New Fiction Film and New Documentary Film). A total of 180 000 CHF (prize money and promotional money) will be awarded. “A Tribute To Guest...” Oliver Stone will receive the Golden Eye for his life’s work, the public will choose the Audience Award and Variety will present Variety’s New Talent Award for the first time. As on the Opening Night, Anke Engelke will guide us through the programme. After the awards are bestowed, it’s off to the Afterparty at the Kaufleuten-Saal, which offers a special highlight: With an exclusive showcase by the newcomer singer Jamie Scott and The Town, we present a star of tomorrow. [more]

Get closer to international personalities from the film scene and experience the glamour of the film world at close quarters – the 3rd Zurich Film Festival makes it possible. From October 1 – 3, the cinema Arthouse Le Paris will be the centre for Zurich Film Festival’s Gala Premieres. Three entertaining films will be screened in the presence of their directors and actors. Zurich Talks Begins with a Highlight

A Magic Moment with Anke Engelke and Alexandra Maria Lara.

The Zurich Film Festival’s ZURICH TALKS series at the Theater am Neumarkt got off to a brilliant start on Friday. The great communicator Anke Engelke developed her discussion with the internationally active shooting star Alexandra Maria Lara (“Der Untergang”) to an intimate exchange of thoughts with a close friend and simultaneously to a verbal game of ping-pong with the audience – and enthusiastic approval! No less promising is the rest of the ZURICH TALKS programme, which allows the festival’s guests to take an illuminating glimpse behind the scenes of the film and cinema business. [more]
