The foreman Franz has provisionally taken over the supervisor job in Jochen's group. But the production management wants a young man, Ernst, because they want some new blood in the group. The group prepares to resist - against Ernst, for Franz. But in the end they see that they miscalculated when they realize what they get with Franz and what they get with Ernst.
