Award Winners
It is our pleasure to announce the winner of the first Zurich Film Festival competition: The Russian Andrei Kravchuk won over the jury with his debut film “The Italian“ and accepted the “Golden Eye”, endowed with CHF 15 000, at the award ceremony on Sunday, October 9, 2005.
Jury President, professor Hellmuth Karasek, substantiated the choice with the following words: ““The Italian” is a touching yet unsentimental and exact film about how a child searches for love in a world where it is hard to find.”
With good to very good attended screenings and a total of ca. 8000 viewers, the 1st Zurich Film Festival from 5 - 9 October, 2005 was a great success. Under the motto “Passion and Young Blood” the festival presented a multifaceted programme and, with six thematic line-ups and numerous “specials”, illuminated many fascinating aspects of film from a variety of angles.
